Turban Bera was one of the first Ph.D. students in our research group.

Being a first student, | had a special relationship with him professionally and personally Turban Bera studied both 10th and 42th standard from the west Bengal state board, and passed with 92% and 84% marks respectively He was a student of Tamluk Hamilton High Schoo! from 5th-12th standard which is a prestigious and historic 170 years old school. interestingly. : was also a studentfrom the same school. He passed BSc in Chemistry in 2018 from Rajasthan Central University with 78% marks. He passed MSc from Jamia Millia Islamia in 2020.
He joined the department of chemistry at IT Jodhpur in ihe same year as a Ph.D. student, and he joined my fab in January-2021 after successfully completing course exams with 8.5 CGPA Before joining my lab, he studied MSc in chemistry with Organic Chemistry specialization. But he came to join liT Jodhpur to pursue his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, which was much different from his specialization because he was a brave student to take on challenges and learn new things. Initially, he started to work on understanding protein folding mechanisms.
He successfully got experimental results with another student, and we wrote a manuscript that was actually accepted in the ChemPhysChem journal one day after his demise. Simultaneously, he was also working on Ruster Image Scanning Correlation Spectroscopy and he was as an intelligent, hard-working, quick-leamer, and team player.
think that his extracurricular accomplishments are more than his academic achievements as a student. Turban Bera stood 2nd at the state level, and ranked 7554 in the Intemational English Olympiad. He stood 2nd in the All india Essay competition organized by “BuddyForStudy”. He represented his home District -East Medinipur for a state-level debate competition in the NSS youth convention in 2042 conducied by Govt of West Bengal. He was an active volunteer under National Service Scheme from 2012 to 2014. He infact donated plasma during high covid time through Rotary Club.
addition, Turban Bera was an additional classical vocal singer, tabla and Santur player. songwailer. and music composer. He started his music training al an early age from Pandil Sukumar Sautia in Benaras gharana. He recorded around 30 original songs in both Bengali and Hindi, mostly writlen by himself, composed by himself. and recorded by himself. In addition, he also arranged music for another 30 songs. He passed general division at All India Radio Kolkata as a Hindi Vajan artist only at 18 years old. He was an approved artist (B-high) in All India Radio, Kolkata from 2020. His original songs are available on Gaana.com. Spotify, Airlel music, and Youtube. Many of his songs are available as caller tune in mobile network like Airtel, vodaphone, BSNL. Today at the end

He was awarded a certificate of excellence from Rajya Sangeet Academy, West Bengal in 2020. From an early age, he was a regular performer in school, college, and university cultural programs, and his friends-family admired him because he had the ability to connect with people through music. | remember he performed one song for IIT Johpdur cultural function when he was staying in the hospital in Mumbai. In fact, famous singer Mr. Arijit Singh called him multiple times to support him and his family. He performed several times on Akash Bangla and Durdarshan Bangla TV channels in the last three years. In fact, he performed one hour program called “Sakal-Sakal” on the Duradarshan Bangla TV channel just three months back, when he relumed home from Mumbai after a significant recovery. His last recorded song was for a Hindi web series called “Choukath’, which will be released soon. In fact, he used to teach music from Hospital in Mumbai through an online platform called “Footados school of music”. His ability to connect people through his original music was remarkable and will be always remembered.
3 months back he called me and said that he was feeling much better, and will be back on campus in 3 months, which is exactly now. | am deeply saddened by the loss of a single child in a family. My condolences My deepest sympathies go out to his parents, families, and friends.
